NIU Visual Communication Program
There are presently no open calls for submissions.
NIU Visual Communication Program Application
You are to submit a minimum of 10 projects with a maximum of 20 individual files. The submission button at the bottom of this page will allow you to upload your various files.
A project file can have multiple pages such as a multi page PDF, or more than one file associated with it. For example you may have a book design that is 20 pages, that would be one PDF file and count as one project. A motion graphic .mov would be another file. A visual identity project could have multiple components, but they could all be in one PDF file, so that might include a logo page, letterhead, envelope, etc, each as a page of the one PDF file. Additional elements of a visual identity system (such as a poster and web design screen shot) should be separate files.
If you have questions regarding your submissions, email professor, Perrin Stamatis, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The selection of pieces in your portfolio tells us a great deal about you. So, thoughtfully and carefully choose the best work to show your design skills and potential for further development. Your portfolio should include design work, such as:
- Publications: Books, Booklets, Magazine layouts
- Typographic work
- Interactive design
- Motion design
- You must present a minimum of 10 individual projects, but no more than 20 files.
- Document and image files must be JPEG or PDF.
- Videos files must be MOV or MP4.
Acceptance or Non Acceptance Result
You will be contacted via email if your portfolio is accepted or not accepted.
If your portfolio is accepted, you will then need to be interviewed. You will be contacted regarding the interview date and time.
If your portfolio is not accepted, you are not accepted into the Visual Communication program at NIU. You will receive email notification of this result. You may apply again next year.
